The school book list: how to read it
The school hands you a list at the start of the year. Here is how to turn that list into a correct order in five minutes, without buying the wrong book and without buying the same subject twice.
The three things the list holds
The school list tells you the grade, the subjects and — often, but not always — the publisher. Grade and subjects are the same across Kosovo, because they come from the curriculum: eight subjects for grades 1–5, twelve for grades 6–9. The publisher is the only thing that varies from school to school, and the only one a parent does not choose.
The publisher is the school’s choice
Six publishers are approved for grades 1–9. The subject content follows the same curriculum in each, but chapter order, page numbers and exercises do not line up between them. That is why the wrong publisher’s book is not “close enough”: when the teacher says “page 84, exercise three”, the child holding the wrong book is on a different topic. This is the one step in the whole order worth checking twice.
When the list does not name the publisher
It happens often, especially in the lower grades. Two routes: ask the class teacher — the answer is one word and they always have it — or message us on Instagram or Facebook with the school name and the grade. We hold the lists for the schools we work with and check the same day. Do not guess from the price or the cover; two publishers for the same grade often cost the same.
Workbooks are not in the set
The set is the textbooks. Workbooks and teacher’s books are not part of it and do not appear in the set list, because not every school asks for them and a set that carried them would charge everyone. If your school list asks for them, message us and we add them to the order separately.
Check for duplicates before you pay
If your list points at two different publishers for different subjects — a perfectly normal thing — your selection can end up holding two books for the same subject without you noticing, because you picked them in two separate groups. The home page shows a notice when that happens and names the subjects. Read that notice: removing a book now is easier than returning one after delivery.
From the list to the order
Choose the grade, choose the publisher the school asks for, remove the titles the family already has and add the rest to the cart. With two children, do the same twice and write each child’s name on their group in the cart — one parcel arrives, divided inside by name. Checkout is five fields and no account. You pay when the parcel reaches you.
